Description:

The 30 1/2 inch, central fullered, straight blade has floral, patriotic, and martial themed etching with matted backgrounds. The hilt has an eagle head pommel, carved bone grip (appropriate for higher ranking officers), acorn capstan and guard finials, shell langets, and a intertwined chain knuckle guard. The scabbard has a single ring lower band and double ring upper band. The sword was likely imported from Europe and has no visible maker's marks.

Rating Definition:

Very Fine, with some light spotting and minor marks on the otherwise bright blade, aged patina on the hilt and scabbard, mild aging of the bone including faint cracks, some denting on the scabbard primarily at the drag, and a loose fit of the blade and cross guard with the handle and pommel. Overall a very attractive eagle pommel sword from the early republic era.
