Description:

Most likely owned by a staff level militia officer. It has a 30 inch, central fullered, straight blade with patriotic and floral scroll etching and no visible maker's mark. The guard has a spread wing eagle on each side and scroll finials. The handle is carved and checkered bone. The pommel is a scroll pattern and is linked to the cross guard by a chain. The scabbard has a spread wing eagle and shield design between the bands and scrollwork patterns around both bands and the tip.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with distinct etching and mostly bright blade with some slight spotting and marks, aged patina on the hilt and scabbard, crisp cast and engraved designs, light play in the guard, a chip in the handle which has crisp carving and checkering, and a few dents in the scabbard.
