Description:

Both of the swords likely by the same maker, most likely a British bladesmith, and date to the early 19th century. They are very similar in design and patterns. The hilts and scabbards are all silver plated brass. Both knuckle guards and eagle head pommels are very similar. Each has grooved bone grips. The blades are approximately 32 inches with broad fullers, niter blue backgrounds, and gold highlighted floral and martial etching. The scabbards have the same tips and frog studs. The first sword has a small knight helmet and sword langet on the right, an eagle head finial, and a shell pattern left langet. The second sword has a larger langet with the federal eagle and shield emblem and an engraved scabbard.

Rating Definition:

1) Fine with light spotting on the otherwise bright blade which retains the 90% of the original bright niter blue and gold finish, over half of the original silver plating on the hilt, patches of original silver on the scabbard, aged patinas on the silver and exposed brass, small flakes on the grip, and mild overall wear. 2) Fine with over half of the original gold and niter blue finish, mottled gray patina primarily on the front section of the otherwise very fine blade, some mild pitting, a modified tip with bent point, 80% original silver on the scabbard and hilt, some chips on the grip, and aged patinas on the silver and brass.
