Description:

Both have silver plated brass hilts with eagle head pommels and include black leather scabbards with silver plated fittings. The blades have gold highlighted patriotic patterns and niter blue backgrounds. 1) 31 inch blade (measured along the spine) with "R.J. Brown/BOSTON/Warranted" on the right. Manufactured c. 1821-1833. 2) 30 1/4 inch blade (measured along the spine) with "WARRANTED" on the right ricasso.

Rating Definition:

Both are good. The first has a solid fitted blade, somewhat loose pommel, traces of original niter blue, strong gold in the designs, chips on the handle, mottled gray patina, light pitting along most of the blade, and section of heavier pitting near the point. The scabbard has flaking and crackling, loose fittings with patches of original silver plating, and an absent upper ring. The second has stronger niter blue and gold, several strong strike marks at the edge of the blade, light pitting and mottled gray patina, aged patina on the hilt, and loose guards. The scabbard has crackling on the flexible leather body and patches of original silver on the fittings which are loose and have some dents.
