Description:

Manufactured in 1892 and originally factory engraved. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with factory engraving, 4 3/4 inch barrel in .45 caliber, nickel finish and type of stock not listed (currently pearl) when shipped to Hartley & Graham, New York City on October 3, 1892, as part of a 3 gun shipment. The top of the barrel has the two-line Hartford address inside an engraved panel, and the left side of the barrel has "45 COLT" inside an engraved banner. The left side of the frame has the two-line patent dates marking. 70% of the surface is engraved, and the motif consists of floral scrollwork on a punch dot background and zig-zag line/dot patterns. A fan motif is engraved on the loading gate and recoil shield. Matching serial numbers are on the frame, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap.

Rating Definition:

Good. The revolver retains 30% period replated nickel finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The undersized, period replacement grips are also good with a minor crack near the top (left panel) and some chipping along the edges. Mechanically fine.
