Description:

Manufactured in 1897 and shipped early in 1898. The particular revolver is chambered for the desirable .44-40 cartridge and has "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" stamped on the left side of the barrel. The top of the barrel is marked with the one-line address and the left side of the frame has the three-date, two-line patent marking followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard, and back strap and the loading gate is marked with the assembly number "610". Blue finish with casehardened frame and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the tops. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, blue finish, rubber grips and that it was sold to a Thomas Reese and shipped to Buffalo Arms Company in Buffalo, New York on January 15, 1898 in a single gun shipment. No research has been done on the aforementioned individual.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 40% of the original blue finish remaining with the balance a smooth mottled gray patina. The frame retains 30% original bright case colors (mostly on forward portion of frame) with a smooth mottled brown patina on the balance. There are several small dings on the butt. The hammer shows most of the faded original case colors. The grips have faded to brown and remain very good with a few minor dings on the bottoms. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
