Description:

The factory letter lists this revolver in ".38 Colt" in the current overall configuration when it shipped with one other of the same type to Murta Applegate Company in Philadelphia on February 13, 1928. It should be noted that Colt did not differentiate in its barrel markings or records between .38 Colt Special and .38 S&W Special as they did not want to. Thus many are recorded in factory ledgers only as ".38/C." The cartridges are effectively the same other than the bullets loaded in them. The back of the cylinder is marked with the matching last two digits ("45") of the serial number and appears to have the sharp shoulder at the case mouth used on the .38 Colt Special revolvers, of which around 82 were manufactured. "267" is marked on the barrel under the ejector housing and on the bottom of the housing, and the matching full serial number is on the bottom of the frame and right side of the grip straps. The grips are not numbered. The matching assembly number "162" is on the rear of the frame and the loading gate. The other markings and features are standard.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 60% original case colors, 70% original blue finish, some spots of minor surface oxidation, and gray and brown patina on the faded areas. The replacement grips are good and have mild overall handling wear, including some smoothing, and minor scratches. Mechanically excellent.
