Description:

Manufactured from 1882 to 1889 (this example obviously made in 1882), this Spencer firearm was the first successful American slide action repeating shotgun. Single bead sight on the Damascus barrel with "SPENCER ARMS CO. WINDSOR, CT. U.S.A. PAT. APR. 1882" marked just forward of the breech, 2 1/2 inch chamber, laminated twist steel magazine tube, and full choke. There are no Bannerman markings on the barrel or receiver. Short, checkered resin forearm and smooth walnut pistol grip stock with checkered hard rubber buttplate. Stock measurements are: drop at comb 2 1/4 inches; drop at heel 2 3/4 inches; length of pull 13 3/4 inches.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel and magazine tube have and overall mottled gray and brown patina with some light pitting, visible Damascus patterning, small nicks and dings, and mild scratches. The receiver is mostly gray with scratches, dings, and tool marks on the screws. Slide handle and stock are also very good with small dents and scratches throughout. Mechanically needs some adjustment as the breechblock does not consistently perform the ejection part of the cycle.
