Description:

This is an example of a special order deluxe version of a Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle with the integral dust cover rib and dust cover with serrated edges that was manufactured in 1884. The included factory letter confirms the caliber, octagon barrel, plain trigger, casehardened receiver and checkered pistol grip stock. The rifle was received in the warehouse on June 3, 1885, and shipped the same day. Fitted with a German blade front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight and long range tang peep sight. The top barrel flat has the two-line address/patent information and "32 CAL." The cartridge elevator is marked "32 CAL." Mounted on a select grade pistol grip stock and forearm featuring checkering on the forearm and grip area, insert on the bottom of the pistol grip and crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally restored. The rifle retains 98% plus of the blue finish and case colors. There is limited light to minor pitting on the receiver and a few small spots of oxidation on the barrel. The wood shows a number of minor pressure dents and scratches, some worn forearm checkering and a replacement grip insert. Mechanically fine.
