Manufactured in 1912. Features a special order half octagon barrel, 1/2 magazine tube, takedown, deluxe checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a shotgun butt. The top barrel flat ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two-line address/patent date, the left rear upper flat is marked "NICKEL STEEL" and "38-55" at the breech. There is a Winchester oval proof on the top barrel flat ahead of the caliber marking and on the top of the receiver at the breech. The upper tang is marked with the three line model, maker, patent information and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. Dovetailed white bead blade front and adjustable sporting rear sights. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and lever. Mounted with a checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a steel end cap, hard rubber Winchester grip cap and checkered hard rubber shotgun buttplate.

Fine with 60% original blue finish remaining, showing some minor oxidation on the muzzle end of the barrel, some light spotting on the rear sight, areas of smooth gray patina on the receiver and lever assembly, and some minor scratches. The takedown ring has a smooth gray patina. The lever showing strong original case colors in protected areas with a smooth mottled gray patina on the balance. The wood has been refinished and remains very good with some scattered minor dents and dings and distinct checkering. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
