Manufactured in 1883 as a third model with the dust cover guide rail integrally machined to the receiver. The action is 28 inch, extra length octagonal fitted with a special order single set trigger. Dovetailed blade front and folding ladder rear (slightly loose) sights on a barrel stamped with the two-line address/patent marking and "CAL 45-60." A period replacement vernier sight is installed on the upper tang. "45-60" is marked on the cartridge elevator. Mounted on a smooth straight grip stock featuring a crescent buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included).

Very good plus. The rifle retains 30% original blue finish with the balance between smooth brown and gray patinas. The wood is also fine with cracking near the buttplate tang, a couple small streaks of paint and some minor pressure dents and scratches. Action needs work as the hammer does not hold at the half cock position.
