Description:

Manufactured in 1919. This carbine reportedly was once the property of the Oregon State Penitentiary. It comes with a State of Oregon Procurement Division, Department of General Services slip for the sale of this carbine. A price and signature of buyer are absent from the slip. According to consignor the state replaced the rear sights, hammers and stocks of their rifles and carbines in the 1960s, which is the case with this carbine, keeping the firearms "up to date". With the exception of electro penciled "OSP # 16197" on the lower left edge of the receiver, the carbine has the standard markings. Pinned brass blade front and adjustable rear sights, saddle ring and stud on the left side of the receiver. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good as modified, see above, with 85% original blue finish remaining, showing some thinning, edge wear and numerous scattered minor scratches. The refinished replaced wood is good with a number of scattered minor dents. The stock is ill-fitting at the upper tang. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
