The carbine has "pinched" blade front and two leaf (graduated 1,3, and 5) rear sights, "U" marked barrel band, unusual beveled breechblock sides, an unknown marking on the left side of the hammer, stylized cutouts on both sides of the receiver, faded patent markings on the upper tang including the March 1874 patent date, and smooth stock and forearm. The consignor indicated this carbine was once in the prominent collection of a prince in Eckernforde, Germany, around 1912. One of the two inventory tags also has "Eckernforde" among the markings.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 80% plus of the arsenal style blue finish, 50% case colors on the buttplate, traces of the faded case colors on the receiver, casting flaws at the breech, some light oxidation, and scattered minor marks. The wood has moderate scrapes and dings. Mechanically functions fine but was not meant to be fired.
