Description:

This revolver is an almost exact copy of the Colt Model 1862 Police revolver and was manufactured from 1864 to 1866 with only about 2,750 manufactured. It lacks factory markings and correctly fall into the serial number range (1950-2400) for unmarked specimens. The revolver features period scroll engraving on the barrel, cylinder flats, frame, back strap and trigger guard. The hammer is engraved with a wolf head motif. Fitted with a small German silver blade front sight. Matching numbers are found on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder, wedge and loading lever. Comes in a custom hardwood partitioned case with lead rounds, Goldmark cap tin, double face eagle powder flask and "No 120" marked bullet mold.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The revolver retains traces of original blue finish in the protected areas, otherwise a mottled dark gray patina. The wedge screw is a replacement. The grip straps retain strong traces of original silver plating around the trigger, and the exposed brass has an attractive patina. The action needs work as the hammer does not always extend to the half cock position. The relined case is good with a large putty filled blemish and two holes on the exterior of the lid, a number of minor handling/storage marks, loose partition walls and some worn lining
