Description:

Manufactured in 1876. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line Hartford address, and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, two patent dates. The upper left front of the trigger guard is marked "44 CAL" (factory letter states ".45/c" and the cylinder chambers a 45 Colt cartridge). The matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard and back strap, with the partial serial number "0592" marked on the underside of the barrel and on the cylinder. The loading gate is marked with the assembly number "3329". Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, "bulls eye" ejector rod head, the frame was casehardened, replacement hammer is casehardened, and the remaining metal surfaces were blue. Fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber and blue finish with the barrel length and grips as "Not Listed" and that it was part of a 50 gun shipment to B. Kittredge & Company in Cleveland, Ohio, on November 18, 1876.

Rating Definition:

Fair as assembled, (replacement hammer, back strap, and trigger guard), with a mottled brown patina on the metal surfaces, with some scattered minor pitting, dents and dings. The trigger guard and back strap have been numbered to match the gun. The hammer retains almost all of the bright case colors. The grip is fair with a chip on each toe, heavy wear on the lower edges, and overall scattered minor dings, dents and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
