Manufactured subsequent to 1872 and subsequently embellished by renowned Master Engraver Ben Shostle who has signed his work on the right side of the frame. The barrel is numbered to the gun and has a dovetailed blade front sight, single gold inlaid bands at the muzzle and breech, the two-line Stevens address/patent dates marking (faint) on the upper left flat and engraved scrollwork on a punch dot background at the breech. The beautiful scrollwork extends to the sides of the frame and on the skeleton shoulder stock. There is a tang peep sight.

Exceptionally fine as embellished by Master Engraver Ben Shostle. The sleeved barrel retains 95% plus of the blue finish showing an area of plum patina near the breech and some light spotting and pitting. The frame and stock have an attractive bright appearance overall. The tang sight is missing the spring. Mechanically excellent.
