Struck with the crowned "V" Vorratszeichen mark denoting pre-1891 manufacture, this rifle remains in superb little used condition. The blued barrels with doll's head extension are respectively marked "GUSS" and "STAHL" at the breech ends. Raised flat partially matte rib signed "F. NEUMEYER - FREISING" and with white metal bead front sight and blued rear sight of one fixed and one folding leaf. Casehardened action with carved fences, partially matte upper tang fitted with a blued folding aperture rear sight, permanently attached fore-arm and Lefaucheux type rotary underlever with checkered dark horn grip. Casehardened back-action locks, trigger guard and steel butt plate, the trigger guard with scrolled dark horn finger rest. Casehardened trigger plate fitted with a set trigger for each lock. Figured 13 3/4 inch stock with raised cheekpiece, checkered grip and fore-arm. Two iron sling mounts and border and scroll engraving throughout. Weight 8 lbs. 3 oz. The browned finish on the barrels remains 75% intact with a repair visible near the muzzle with recheckered rib around front sight and resoldering of lower rib. The engraved signature is crisp and clear. The engraved ornament through remains crisp and clear. The action retains strong casehardened finish with some loss on the upper tang. The locks retain 50% casehardened finish with the exception of the tail of the right lock which has a small patch of surface corrosion and loss of finish. These two blemishes appear to be due to handling wear during its working life. The casehardened finish on the trigger guard is beginning to fade and that on the butt plate is faded. The very fine stock has minor age related storage and handling marking. Mechanically excellent.
