The octagonal swamped barrel, originally blued but now faded to a plum color, has a widened section on the top flat which is signed "H. HELLFRITSCH IN NÜRNBERG" in silver and is fitted with bead front sight with protective wings. The breech end of the barrel swelled to round and inlaid with two gold and one silver line. Casehardened action is profusely engraved with foliage and is inlaid with a running stag and initials in gold, the rear of the action is fitted with an adjustable aperture target sight. Casehardened trigger plate fitted with double set triggers and action lever forming the trigger guard engraved en suite with the action and inlaid with a gold roe buck. Highly figured 12 1/2 inch half stock carved in relief with a stag in a woodland setting behind the raised cheekpiece, carved in relief with a lion mask at the end of the forearm, and with checkered grip. Casehardened hooked butt plate engraved en suite with the action and inlaid with a gold roe doe on the upper tang. Casehardened rear sling stud engraved with a flower head, front iron sling mount and iron cleaning rod.

Fine. Barrel retains 70% original blue with some scattered spots of surface corrosion towards the muzzle. Engraving clear and crisp throughout, some patches of surface discoloration, casehardened finish fading to light gray. Stock has numerous storage and handling marks, scratches and bruises. The otherwise fine stock is cracked along the grain through around the action, some wear to high points of carving on the butt and forearm. Set trigger mechanism does not engage, needs work.
