Description:

This is an attractive example of a very early Colt Model 1902 semi-automatic pistol that was manufactured in the 1903 time frame. This example was subsequently returned to the factory to be replated. The right side of the slide is marked: "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" in two lines. The left side of the slide is marked with the two-line, two-block, markings of: "PATENTED/APR.20, 1897, SEPT.9,1902", followed by the second block marked: "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT.U.S.A.". The pistol features the standard grooved serrations at the front of the slide with the early "uncircled" Colt Rampant Horse logo at the rear of the left side. The serial number, "14376" is located on the left side of the frame above the trigger guard bow. The right side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with the factory-inspector's letter "K", with no other markings. As noted this Colt Model 1902 Military automatic pistol is fitted with the factory pearl grips with the silver Colt medallions on each side. It has one magazine.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 97% of the factory replated nickel finish overall showing light wear on the edges mixed with light flaking/minor erosion on the sides of the frame under the grips. The markings are clear and sharp overall. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice distinct color on both sides. Mechanically fine.
