Description:

Manufactured in 1932. Fixed blade and notch sights, standard barrel markings, checkered hammer and trigger, and checkered medallion grips. Consignor attributes the revolver as being issued to the United States Post Office Railway Mail Service. There is an area on the back strap that has had markings removed, and there is a property number "No. 16354" on the butt. The left side of the trigger guard is stamped "GWA" indicating inspection by Col. George A. Woody at Springfield Armory. It is reported that between 250 and 500 such revolvers remain, with the majority of them destroyed by the U.S. Post Office after their service life had ended.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 80% original blue finish remaining with some light edge wear, cylinder drag line, surface scratches, and handling marks. The back strap has been refinished over where a marking was removed. The grips are very fine with well defined checkering and numerous small dings. Mechanically excellent.
