Description:

The included factory letter confirms the serial number, caliber, barrel length, finish, and June 1, 1931 date of shipment to "H. Clay Ferris" Greene County New York, as a 1 gun shipment. According to the provided information, Henry Clay Ferris served as Under-Sheriff in Greene County, New York where he was instrumental in the area's efforts to curb organized crime, and bootlegging. It further states he assisted in the apprehension of notorious gangster Jack "Legs" Diamond, as well as the investigation of his April, 1931 murder in Albany, New York. Fixed blade front and frame notch rear sights, standard barrel markings, checkered hammer and trigger, and desirable early square butt.

Rating Definition:

Fine. 85% plus original blue finish remains with areas of light edge wear, mild spotting, surface scratches and handling marks overall. The butt has been filed down to remove marking, with cold blue applied over this area. The grips are very fine with crisp checkering and some small dings. Mechanically excellent.
