Offered here are two Colt Banker's Special Revolvers shipped and used by the Boston Police Department. Each revolver has a factory inscribed Boston Police Department marking on the back strap and come with a factory letter. The factory letters list the revolvers with a 2 inch barrel in .38 caliber, blue finish, type of stocks not listed and consecutive Boston Police Department numbers "4000" and "4001" factory inscribed on the respective revolver on the back strap. The revolvers were shipped to the City of Boston Police Department, Boston, on December 10, 1930, as part of a 50 gun shipment on factory order 19060/50. The revolvers are identified in Gary H. Peer's "The Colt Double-Action Snub-Nose (Pocket) Revolver" on page 81 (copied excerpts are included) as being "the first two in the numbering system by BPD for the Banker's Specials acquired during the 1930s." The back strap marking on "A" is "B-P-D- 4000" and on "B" is B-P-D- 4001." Comes with a Boston Police badge.

Fine. The revolver retains 40% original blue finish with the balance between smooth brown and gray patinas. There is some minor pitting (mostly on the cylinder). The grips are fair with heavily worn checkering. Mechanically excellent. A very interesting pair of document Boston Police Department Colt Banker's Special Revolvers that would work well in a Colt DA or police collection.
