Description:

Only 25 nickel plated Sheriff's Models were manufactured and this is the very first one. It is pictured and discussed in "The 1960 Colt Sheriff's Model-Second Generation" by Earl Whitney in "The Rampant Colt" Spring 2006 issue. As explained in the article, Colt only manufactured 503 Sheriff's Model revolvers in a special run for Centennial Arms, 478 with blue and casehardened finish and just 25 with nickel plating. It has traditional Single Action Army sights, the two-line address on top of the barrel, "COLT SHERIFFS MODEL .45" on the left, the two-line patent marking and Rampant Colt trademark on the left side of the frame, all matching numbers, the inverted triangular "VP" proof and "P" on the trigger guard, and smooth walnut grips with routed interiors and the matching serial number in pencil on the back sides. A mismatched factory woodgrain box renumbered to the gun is included.

Rating Definition:

Excellent 99% overall with light handling and storage marks. The grips are near excellent with minor handling wear and slight warping at the toe on the left. It mechanically needs work: the hammer does not hold at full-cock and drops back to half-cock. The box is good with moderate storage wear.
