This is a late WWII production K98 sniper rifle type that was manufactured by the Gustloff factory in the last days of WW II. This example has the correct original enlarged receiver with machined flat on the left side that was finished by installing a blued long side rail base, attached with three large round top screws, three round top locking screws and two taper pins. It is now also fitted with an excellent, high quality scope mount that has been correctly proofed on the side with a small Eagle/359 Waffenamt and correctly numbered "8764" (matching) on the side. The mount is fitted with an original late-war, phosphate coated "bek" sniper scope. The scope tube is marked: "DIALYTAN 4x 77622/bek" followed by a blue "+". It has the standard German three post reticle and the elevation knob is correctly marked 1-8 (100-800 meters). The receiver ring is correctly marked with the "Eagle/749/bcd" the wartime code for the Gustloff-Werke over "45" for the year of manufacture. The left rear side of the breech end of the barrel is stamped with a single Eagle firing proof, followed by serial number "8764", indicating it was an early barrel installed on a late "bcd 45" receiver, as these receivers were never numbered. It is fitted with its matching numbered bolt assembly that has been fitted with a key safety also numbered to match the rifle. It is correctly fitted with a set of unnumbered, stamped barrel bands and stamped trigger guard and floor plate. It has a standard wartime laminated stock and handguard with a faint "Eagle" proof on the right with a crisp single "C" proof on the lower stock area. It is also fitted with a reproduction checkered steel buttplate. The rifle is complete with an original cleaning rod and front sight cover.

Excellent with 95% of the original desirable combination blued/phosphate colored finishes with an all blued scope base, mount and correct sniper scope. The stock and handguard are both in excellent condition. Showing minimal handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The scope retains 90% of its original phosphate finish this is an excellent late-war German long side rail type sniper rifle.
