Description:

Devoid of makers marks, this Karabiner 1888 style carbine is marked "1" on the receiver ring, the rear of the bolt, the face of the front sight protector, toe of the buttplate and on the underside of the magazine assembly, with "2,2g G.B.P./St.m.G." (2.2 grains military powder with a steel jacketed bullet) on the receiver ring and "crown/letter" proofs, including a Weimar-style "crown/N", suggesting a subsequent commercial rebuild. The full length stock is smooth and straight, cut for a 98k-style sling and fitted with a flat buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine as commercially refurbished. The barrel sleeve and magazine show 80% plus blue finish, with some light wear and handling marks overall, and the receiver shows 75%% casehardened finish mixed with brown and gray. The stock is fine with a 2 3/4 inch long crack through the buttstock starting near the toe screw, light dings and scattered scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
