Description:

Unique example of a WWI 1917 bolt action rifle that subsequently was most likely arsenal converted into a training model, cut away at the stock and receiver to reveal the internal mechanisms for training. The barrel is marked "W/flaming bomb/1-18", however, the manufacturer's name has been partially cut through to expose the locking lug area. The wood cuts are both on the left side with a 2 1/2 inch gap exposing the sear and trigger assembly, and a 1/2 inch gap below the receiver ring. The receiver has a 2 inch cut out of the right side of the receiver wall and rear sight protector. The upper right quadrant of the receiver ring has been cut out, a small oval ahead of the safety switch exposing the spring, and a 2 1/2 inch oval is cut into the bolt, exposing the firing pin and spring. All other features are standard. The trapdoor butt contains a combination oiler and cleaning cable holder.

Rating Definition:

Fine as sectionalized and refurbished with 95% of the arsenal parkerized finish remaining, areas of spotting, dark patina, and small nicks and scratches. The stock is very good with scratches and dings, shallow grasping grooves, some light staining, and faint markings. Mechanically excellent.
