This is one of the approximately 2,800 scopes developed and manufactured c.1940 for the U.S. Marine Corps, to be installed on 1903 National Match rifles by USMC/Navy armorers (a combination also known as the "USMC 1941 Sniper"). The scopes themselves were kept in inventory after World War II, seeing re-issue as late as Vietnam. It is marked "J. Unertl/USMC-SNIPER/2533" on the main body tube ahead of "8", with a rail-guided sliding aluminum front ring, and an adjustable Unertl marked rear ring. Included with the scope is a green paint finished bakelite field case, fitted with a green canvas lid retainer and belt loop, multiple wax pencil numbers on the underside, and a spring loaded interior.

Very fine with refurbished blue finish. The scope body shows light wear and the black anodized finish on the scope rings has been cleaned off. The lenses are a bit dirty, otherwise the optics are in good shape with a solid reticle. The case is very good, with minor wear and scuffs.
