Description:

This is an exceptional original example of a WWII U.S. Army contract Stevens Model 620 trench shotgun. This is another example of one of the highly desirable and highly sought US WWII Military trench shotguns. This was an improved version of the original 520 Trench shotguns that used the factory newly redesigned "rounded back" M620 receiver. This model was used by both the US Army and Marines during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. The right side of the barrel has the three-line factory address/markings, and a single "P" firing proof over a small Ordnance Shell and Flame acceptance proof is at the breech. The left of the barrel side is marked: "PROOF TESTED-12 GAUGE/-2 3/4 INCH CHAMBER-". The barrel correctly gauges as a cylinder bore at the muzzle. The barrel has the correct WWII Stevens six-hole heat shield/bayonet lug that has the correct purplish tint to the metal due to its alloy construction. This model does not have any proofmarks on the bayonet lug. The left side of the receiver is stamped with the "P" firing proof over the Ordnance Corp Shell and Flame proof, followed by "MOD. 620" with the "U.S." farther back on the receiver. It is fitted with a walnut pump handle and buttstock with a black plastic buttplate. There is a single bale type sling swivel attached to the bayonet lug and another one correctly mounted on the lower toe area of the stock.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus with 98% plus of the crisp original wartime blued finish overall with only very minor edge and high spot wear. The breech bolt is correctly in the white as originally manufactured. The walnut stock and pump handle are both in excellent condition with only some very minor handling marks on the left side of the pistol grip with a small chip out of the edge of the buttplate. An excellent high condition Stevens model 620 trench shotgun.
