Description:

The included factory letter confirms the serial number, caliber, barrel length, grips, and April 29, 1898 date of shipment to "United States Government, Commanding Officer, 2nd Naval Battalion" New York as one of 50 firearms shipped on April 29, 1898. Standard fixed blade and notch sights with standard markings on the barrel and frame. Matching assembly numbers "39" on the latch, frame, and crane with a smooth nitre blue trigger, and checkered hammer. The butt is factory marked with the serial number, Navy property number "N248"(listed in factory letter specific to this revolver), and a trident Naval inspection mark.

Rating Definition:

Fine. 70% plus original polished blue finish remains with areas of edge wear, some oxidation, scratches and dings, and a brown patina mostly on the grip straps. Grips are fair with a section absent at the toe of the left panel, and small dings throughout. Mechanically excellent.
