Description:

Both of the sabers are U.S. Army Officer models and have etched blades. The first has "HENRY V. ALLIEN/& Co./NEW YORK" on the left ricasso, "GERMANY" on the base of the spine, "James D. Alger" etched on the right side of the blade, a plain hilt, and plain nickeled scabbard. The second has "TRADE/CONQOEROR/MARK/N.S. MEYER INC./WEST GERMANY" on the left ricasso, an ornate eagle hilt with red eyes, floral scroll patterns on the scabbard fittings, and "FROM/EDISON TOWNSHIP, N.J./-IN SINCERE APPRECIATION-" between the suspension rings. The plaque is marked "ATLANTIC AREA/INSTALLATION COMMAND/1964 1967/FROM/OFFICERS AND WIVES OF/THE MAJOR UNITS OF THE/ATLANTIC AREA." Information on Lieutenant General James D. Alger is included which includes the fact that he was held as a prisoner of war in Nazi Germany, served as chairman of the Inter-American Defense Board, and also commanded Camp Kilmer located at Edison Township, New Jersey. Also comes with a 1st Lt. overseas cap hand marked "JD ALGER" on the sweat band and a pair of 1-star general shoulder boards.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with mild storage wear including some small dents on the plaque, light scratches on the swords and scabbards, and crisp markings and etching.
