Manufactured in West Germany in 1973 as serial number CR1001. Serial numbers for these rifles started at CR1000. The barrel was manufactured without sights and has the Colt Hartford address on top. The factory letter confirms the serial number, caliber, barrel length and high polish blue finish, as well as the checkered pistol grip stock with rosewood forend and grip caps, inset Rampant Colt on the grip cap, raised cheekpiece, adjustable single stage trigger, vented Colt Sauer recoil pad, and receiver drilled and tapped for scope mounts. The letter also confirms that this rifle was shipped to Newington Gun Exchange in Newington, Connecticut, on May 18, 2016, for Colt employee Kevin Langevin (currently Colt's Vice President of New Product Development). The factory letter states that this rifle was part of a special sale of firearms from the Colt Engineering Archive Collection to Colt employees and that this particular rifle was a display model of the first production Colt-Sauer Rifle. Comes with the original box.

Excellent overall, retains 99% plus original blue finish with a few light handling marks. There is a small ding near the safety on the pistol grip. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with some minor wear.
