One of only 299 manufactured in 1955 which was the first year of production. Standard markings and features. Initials "D.H.V. lightly carved in the bottom of the right grip panel. With much later production replacement unnumbered Colt "woodgrain" box.

Very fine, retains 85% plus original blue finish with signs of holster wear, some loss and cold blue touch-up visible at the muzzle (and down both sides of barrel), some very small patches of pitting on the barrel and some scattered handling marks. The interior top face of the recoil shield has been polished bright. The grips are very good with some "palm resting" wear which partially smooths some of the checkering (right panel), some light dings in the bottoms, and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with some minor wear and a few small tears.
