Description:

Produced early in the 1900s, the American Eagle Luger was intended explicitly for the United States market, and the 1902 model was one of the first to be made available in 9mm Parabellum, featuring the signature thick four inch "Fat" barrel, making it an essential developmental step from the early 1900 Luger to the iconic P.08 configuration. Essentially a necked-up variant of the 7.63mm Parabellum cartridge, the 9mm Parabellum (aka 9x19 NATO, 9mm Luger) has been one of the most enduring handgun rounds of the 20th and 21st centuries and the constant arch-nemesis of the classic 45 ACP for the title of best defensive/military/civilian/sporting/target/competition/etc. handgun round. Fixed sights, with the American Eagle crest on top of the chamber, flat recessed breechblock, "DWM" marked toggle link, dished toggles with toggle lock, and a smooth back strap with grip safety. The front of the frame is marked "GERMANY", with a retro-fitted hold-open device, leaf recoil springs, straw finished small parts, fine checkered grips and a nickel finished magazine marked "Cal. 9m/m" on the hardwood base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 85% of the professionally restored blue finish, showing the start of a brown patina on some areas, bright edge wear, and some mild spotting and dings. The refurbished straw color has mellowed slightly, with some bright wear on the contact surfaces, and the renumbered replacement grips are very fine with some mild dings and dark spots. Mechanically excellent.
