Patterned closely after the Mauser Model 98, rifles like the W625B were very popular as both civilian 'plinking' guns and as military and paramilitary training tools, as it could be fired safely on much smaller ranges than a full powered rifle and fed with inexpensive 22 LR ammunition. Blade front and tangent rear sights, with the Krupp steel markings on the barrel, crown over "B/U/G" commercial proofs, and the model and manufacturer markings on the receiver ring. The smooth pistol grip stock is fitted with a brown leather sling and a flat steel buttplate, with the right side stamped "GRUPPE/SA/KURPFALZ". Also known as the Brownshirts or Stormtroopers, the Sturmabteilung (SA) were the uniformed legbreakers and street-fighters of the Nazi Party, who in the late days of the Weimar Republic and early days of Hitler's rise to power harbored dreams of displacing the Wehrmacht as the chief armed force of Germany. SA Gruppe Kurpfalz was an administrative unit headquartered in St. Ingbert, operating right on the French-German border.

Very fine, with 85% plus of the original blue finish, showing some light scratches and handling marks overall, areas of mixed brown and gray patina concentrated on the barrel bands, and some spotting on the faux cleaning rod. The stock has an unsecured "duffle cut" beneath the mid band, but is otherwise very fine, with a number of light dents and scuffs. Mechanically very good.
