Manufactured in 1899 as a second model with a casehardened takedown frame. The accompanying factory letter lists this rifle in .22 short when it was received in the warehouse on February 18, 1899, and shipped the same day. It is fitted with a dovetailed blade front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight and Marble folding tang peep sight. The top barrel flat is stamped with the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and "22 SHORT" at the breech. The lower tang has the serial number. Mounted on a 12-groove round forearm and smooth straight grip stock fitted with a crescent buttplate.

Exceptionally fine. The barrel, magazine tube, slide bar and bolt retain 95% original blue finish. The remaining surfaces retain 60% original case colors. The wood is very fine with a short hairline crack on the wrist (left side) and some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. A highly attractive Model 1890 with casehardened frame that will be a welcomed addition to any Winchester slide action rifle collection.
