Description:

This is one of only around 9,000 Richards conversions manufactured in 1871-1878 based on designs by Charles Brinckerhoff Richards; Richards was also one of the designers of the Colt Single Action Army. Some of these revolvers were actually manufactured alongside the Single Action Army, and these revolvers are believed to have seen significant use in the Old West. The revolver is numbered within the independent factory made conversion range and has the standard markings and features associated with this variation. In addition, it has "59" stamped on the sides of the grip.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with 50% bright original high polish blue finish, 80% plus vivid original case colors, traces of original silver plating in the protected areas, aged patina on the brass, and mostly smooth brown patina on the balance. The fine grip has a dark oiled finish, some small nicks and scratches, and a few chips at the lower edges. Mechanically fine. Overall a very attractive example of a Model 1860.
