Description:

The included photocopied letter of provenance identifies this shotgun by serial number as having been the property of John W. Snyder. Snyder served in the Army during WWI. After the war, he served with the Army Reserves where he met and became close friends with Harry S. Truman. Truman upon his election as president would then appoint Snyder to the position of Treasury Secretary in 1946. Editorials of the time often referred to the appointment as cronyism and often noted his lack of experience made him unfit for the position. In his role as Treasury Secretary, Synder oversaw the conversion of the American economy from a wartime stance to one of peace. While doing this, he managed to reduce the national debt while balancing the budget. A skilled businessman, Snyder had little to no diplomatic experience which often led to conflict with his international counterparts during the post-war era, especially concerning the Marshall Plan to aid Europe. Snyder left the government in 1953 at the end of President Truman's second term. Manufactured in 1947 with 2 3/4 inch chamber, modified choke, single bead sight, a 14 groove flat bottom forearm, and smooth pistol grip buttstock with a checkered Winchester buttplate. Length of pull is 14 inches.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. With 95% plus original blue finish, some light cycling marks on the action bar, some small surface scratches, and a trace of light spotting. The wood is also very fine with some scattered dings and light scratches. Mechanically excellent.
