Description:

Measuring 6 3/4 inches long, this unmarked push dagger is fitted with a 4 inch double edged spear point blade and a round shank. The hilt is constructed from a single piece of antique ivory, with rounded edges and smooth contours. The sheath is of German silver construction, with a grooved decorative tip and a button-style stud. Consignor notes attribute the dagger to San Francisco, and it is a good match for known maker marked examples from the city, which had a thriving market for imported and locally made edged weapons of all grades and styles.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The blade shows some light spotting and polishing marks, with a darker gray color and some shallow pitting on the shank. A few age cracks run through the otherwise grip, which shows an attractive antique color and grain. The sheath is very fine, with mild spotting.
