Description:

The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address/patent dates and ".38 W," and the top of the receiver is marked "MARLIN SAFETY." Fitted with German silver blade front, elevation adjustable rear and tang peep sights. Mounted on a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with crescent buttplate. The accompanying factory letter lists this rifle with a 24 inch octagon barrel in .38-40 caliber when shipped on May 30, 1894 (address unknown).

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 70% original blue finish with the balance thinning to a brown and a series of light scratches on the left side of the receiver. 40% original case colors remain on the hammer, lever and buttplate. The wood is also fine showing some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
