Description:

This is a rare example of one of the estimated 50 Fourth Model Figure 8 Revolvers that were manufactured by Savage & North c. 1856-1859. The revolver is very similar to the Third Model but with an iron frame and flat sides. The serial number "7" is marked on the butt, rear of the cylinder and ratchet, front of the frame, hammer, side plate, and underside of the grips, and the loading lever housing has "390" and the North patent marking. No markings are visible on the top strap. It has a post front sight and a dovetailed notch rear sight at the breech.

Rating Definition:

Fair with gray and brown patina and moderate pitting/oxidation throughout and general signs of heavy use. The grips area fine and have mostly smooth oiled surfaces, minor hairline cracks underneath, heavy edge wear on the left panel including a chip at the toe, and moderate handling wear. Mechanically needs work.
