Description:

This is one of 60,000 New Model 1863 carbines manufactured for use during the Civil War and one of 27,000 Sharps carbines relined to .50 caliber and chambered for the .50-70 cartridge after the war for impending use in the Indian Wars. It has the standard markings and features, including a "DFC" cartouche and three-groove rifling.

Rating Definition:

Fine as arsenal refurbished, retains 85% blue finish and 40% case colors with the balance a smooth grey patina. The wood is very fine with crisp cartouche, some scattered minor handling marks and scattered dark spots. Mechanically excellent.
