Description:

This musket has the standard Model 1863 Type II aka Model 1864 markings on lock and breech, and standard features other than the presence of "NG" written on the left side of the butt (significance unknown). 255,040 were manufactured in 1864-1865 to arm Union troops. A "US/G" marked socket bayonet is included.

Rating Definition:

Good with gray and brown patina, silvered out gray and patina on the lock, minor pitting concentrated at the breech, scattered dings and scratches throughout, distinct markings (including the cartouches), and some small flakes on the otherwise very good stock. Mechanically fine. The bayonet is very good and is mostly bright with light patina.
