Description:

Approximately 8,000 Model 1864 or "Second Model" carbines were purchased by the U.S. Government on contract with the Joslyn Fire Arms Company. They were among the better weapons issued to the Union cavalry. It has the standard markings and features, including matching serial numbers, but has no visible government markings.

Rating Definition:

Good with 80% period refinished blue on the barrel and breechblock, traces of original case colors elsewhere, minor marks and scratches, some slight pitting, and some slight chips and dents in the stock. Mechanically fine.
