Description:

Over 17,728 Gallager percussion carbines were manufactured under license by Richardson & Overman in Philadelphia and primarily issued to Union cavalry units. Interestingly, Mahlon J. Gallager was a South Carolina resident. This example has the standard markings and features.

Rating Definition:

Fair, with mostly mottled brown/grey patina and some faint case color patterns on the hammer. The re-oiled wood has a hairline crack near the lock plate and some minor dings, dents, and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
