Description:

The manufacturer's marking on the left side above the Merwin & Bray agent markings are not clear, but the presence of a serial number below and the caliber suggests it was manufactured by either Dwight, Chapin, & Co. or Ball & Williams in 1863 or 1864. Standard markings and features.

Rating Definition:

Fair, with the barrel a mixture of cold blue finish and a mottled brown patina and the case colors on the action faded and showing oil staining. The sanded, re-oiled wood has some scattered minor dings, a few minor chips near the buttplate, and a minor repair on the right of the comb. Mechanically functions fine, but the lever is loose.
