Horace Greeley IV (1935-2003) was the great great grandson of renowned 19th century American journalist Horace Greeley (1811-1872), the founder and editor of the New York Tribune. Greeley IV was a U.S. Army airborne veteran and noted firearms author who wrote the book "The Colt U.S. General Officers' Pistol." His fascination with the American West at an early age led him to collect and research Colt firearms. In 1997, Greeley IV auctioned off his impressive Colt collection which represented nearly 150 years of Colt history.
