Description:

This is a rare variation of the Model 1885 revolver. Colt only manufactured 1,350 of these 3A revolvers. Manufactured in 1860 as a Model 3A with fluted cylinder, two-block, two-line Colt patent date/Hartford barrel marking with Maltese crosses, cylinder flute stamped with the patent date marking, and matching serial numbers on the barrel and butt. The American partition case contains a double face eagle powder flask, Eley cap tin, two cartridge packs, a key, and a "COLTS/PATENT" marked iron bullet mold.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% plus bright original, high polish blue finish, minor flaking at the edges (mainly the top strap and grip frame), and 85% plus original case colors. The grip is also excellent and has mild lower edge wear, virtually all of the original, high gloss "piano" varnish, and a few handling/storage marks. The case and accessories are all very fine to excellent. Mechanically excellent. This is a scarce and high condition Model 1855 variation.
