Description:

Only around 2,200 of these revolvers were manufactured around the mid-1870s as cartridge revolvers using percussion parts on hand and newly fabricated cartridge revolver components. They are generally numbered in the 100-3300 range like this revolver. It has a blade front sight, hammer notch rear sight, the one-line New York barrel address, naval battle cylinder scene, the two-line 1871 and 1872 patents on the left side of the frame, "38 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard, "7169" marked wedge, "8053" and "870" marked cylinder, and matching serial numbers on the barrel, frame, grip straps, and the back strap mortise of the grip.

Rating Definition:

Good with a few traces of original finish and otherwise mottled gray patina, light pitting, nicks and scratches, and some strike marks. The grip is fair with a splice on the left at the toe, hammering marks on the butt, and moderate overall wear. Mechanically fine.
