Description:

This Type I musket is dated "1819" on the lock and "1820" on the barrel tang. It has the standard features, lock markings, and barrel proofs. It is marked with "C.W.YERKINS" (significance unknown) on the left flat in addition to two cartouches and "V/PH," and "MS" and "DC" are stamped on the bottom of the stock just behind the trigger guard tang.

Rating Definition:

Good with mostly bright surfaces, light pitting, some gray and brown patina, and oil staining/varnish on the buttplate and trigger guard. The re-oiled stock is very good and has mild scrapes and dings. Mechanically fine. This is a solid representative example of a U.S. Harper's Ferry M1816 Musket.
