Only 1,020 of these carbines were manufactured at Springfield Armory c. 1855-1856. Interestingly, these are the only Model 1855 series weapons that do not feature the Maynard tape primer. It has the standard markings and features and is dated "1855" on both the lock and the barrel tang.

Rating Definition:

Good with smooth gray patina, some slight pitting, minor marks and scratches on the steel; aged patina on the brass forend cap, and scattered dents and scratches, a few slight chips, and spots of uneven oiled finish on the stock. The markings on the metal are all clearly legible Mechanically fine. This model is an important variation that is missing from many U.S. martial collections and is one of the more distinctive antebellum Springfield Armory models.
